WASHINGTON — August is flying by -- there are only two weekends left to enjoy before those classic summertime months fall to the wayside and we head straight into Autumn. What's on your summer bucket list? Here are a few more items for inspo before it's cider and pumpkin spice season.

Every week, WUSA9 is giving you the details on at least nine local activities to check out in your off time. Mexican Geniuses: A Frida and Diego Immersive Experience

A new exhibit dedicated to immersing audiences in the works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera makes its grand debut in D.C. Friday, Aug. 19.

"Mexican Geniuses: A Frida and Diego Immersive Experience," which came to life in London earlier this year, will showcase "the passion, beauty, and emotional relationship that left a profound impact on the art world and beyond," according to organizers. Check out this 360º digital art exhibit all summer long and beyond.

All visitors are invited to come and enjoy the lively beats of the African diaspora and dance the night away, according to organizers, who shared that DJ TAZZ & Afropolitan DJ KWEKS will be playing Contemporary African hits in the garden.

Sounds of Africa is an ongoing concert series celebrating the music of the African diaspora. In the case of bad weather, the concert will be moved inside the museum of African Art.

"The Walter E Washington Convention Center will be turned into a playground for all things sneaker & streetwear related!" the event description reads. "Come through & enjoy 2 days packed with over 400+ vendors buying, selling & trading along with an opportunity to get your shoes authenticated by eBay's Authenticity Guaranteed sneaker experts!"

Georgetown Foodie Tour and Neighborhood Walk

Hang out in Georgetown Sunday, tasting your way through the neighborhood known to draw foodies from near and far. "On this tour, you will eat your way through this well-known and prestigious neighborhood. You will learn about Georgetown's early iconic years as you stroll off-the-beaten path for a taste from various local eateries!" organizers said.

Taste test all the Asian food your heart desires at this unique and festive event in Howard County. Organizers call it the ultimate Asian food festival and the biggest on the east coast! 

"We have gathered 40 most iconic Asian restaurants from DMV. Come and try'em all!"

MD's Hottest Trap Paint & Sip

Some might imagine tranquil music guiding their brush while they create art on a canvas - while others need something a little more hype to get those creative juices going. The vibes are turned up a notch at this unique paint and sip session! If trap and hip hop is your thing (were you spending all weekend listening to Meg Thee Stallion's new album? 👀) then grab some friends and get ready for a lit Saturday. 

"We do it for the culture!" organizers say. "All ticket purchases include entry, painting canvas paint supplies, and 1 complimentary glass of wine! Come paint sip and party to your favorite hip/hop and trap music hits."

Join two experts as they guide visitors through the candle-making process this weekend. Pick a favorite fragrance, grab a wick and you'll be on your way with this two-hour session.

"Our goal is to make this event both educational and entertaining for all participants. Please feel free to bring beverages and refreshments to enjoy."

If you want a fun-packed weekend, look no further than the Arlington County Fair. Beyond your funnel cakes and Ferris wheels, this local fair features a host of unique special events, including a pie eating contest, goat yoga, live entertainment, interactive games and more!

"The Arlington County Fair is one of the largest free events on the East Coast and has been providing quality entertainment for over 40 years," the website reads. "In recent years, attendance has reached over 84,000 as people come from Arlington, Northern Virginia, and the DC Metro region to enjoy competitive exhibits, midway rides and games, entertainment, vendors, and more."

Disco on wheels at Mosaic Skateland

"Mosiac Skateland invites you to get up, boogie and celebrate a summer of love," the event description says. "Mosaic Skateland welcomes four-wheeled enthusiasts and beginners alike for a spin around the rink for the ultimate disco revival."

Plus, guests are welcome to bring their own skates to show off their style while they skate.

 Saturday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 21

Stargazers are welcome to join the National Park Service for their annual Night Sky Festival, that'll feature everything from special events and presentations to guest speakers and telescopes! 

Bands and Brews Summer Bar Crawl

Chill in Alexandria this weekend with a cold beer in hand and some sweet summer tunes as you crawl around town! At least 16 restaurants will be participating.

This bands and brews event will feature live music in outdoor restaurant venues along the avenue, plus organizers say that a portion of the proceeds will go to a local non-profit, Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA), an organization that aims to foster independence and self-sufficiency and enabling seniors within the City of Alexandria to age with dignity.

Plus... this weekend marks the first few days of Alexandria Restaurant Week!
