Buying shoes always puts us in a conundrum – shop for style or substance? So after a whole lot of research both on paper and on the streets we’ve concluded that these are the latest and the most comfortable running shoes.

Apart from the gazillion pairs of stylish sneakers that take up space in my wardrobe, there is a single pair that I constantly turn to for all my workout needs. It’s the same pair that I’ve worn since 2016 and as I write this they are fraying and frankly quiet near their end. So in my search for a worthy replacement I researched and scouted for running shoes that we believe are for the long haul.

Being sustainable in our shopping choices isn’t always about buying less but also buying smart. It’s for this reason that adidas with it’s use of eco-friendly materials and an eco-conscious mindset tops our list for sustainable sneakers. The shoe currently on our radar is the all new adidas Supernova shoe that’s a great choice for beginner runners (personally tested and verified). The shoe has a 12% lower carbon footprint for the female version and 10% lower carbon footprint for the male version compared to their previous model. And while, that might not seem like a lot, it’s a mammoth achievement for entry level sneakers. Apart from being a good samaritan, the shoe makes it to our list of the best new running shoes simply because of how it’s designed to provide maximum comfort. As a user it doesn’t matter what your agenda for the day is – running errands or walking, the superb cushioning has you covered. The shoe, unlike many of its contemporaries, is designed keeping women’s needs in mind. The result, a hybrid midsole for that light bounce, a padded tongue, well-cushioned heel, and a TPU outsole that helps you chart any terrains. The lightweight structure and sleek design are simply add-ons that make this a no brainer for any kind of beginner sport.

When it comes to stylish running shoes, Nike is always a leap ahead. Marathon runners swear by their iconic lines like the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus and the shoe is currently in its 39th iteration. Improving with each version, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 running shoes are a natural choice for brisk walking and jogging. The shoes come with an underfoot cushioning and double Zoom Air units (the previous version had one less and weighed an ounce more) that give you that extra support and bounce. A breathable upper ensures that you don’t sweat and the simple design fits perfectly with our premise for a regular use shoe.

The ASICS Gel Nimbus line has a history of over 15 years, and with good reason of course. A staple with runners across the globe, the style became popular due to its cushioned GEL™ technology that gives the extra shock of absorption. The shoe was recently re-introduced with a new contrast colour blocking, mixed materials overlays and the nostalgic silhouette. The high performance shoe is great for those who wish to run the extra mile.

The high performance brand might be a fairly new entrant into the Indian running scene but its global impact is a fast growing one. The HOKA Bondi 8 running shoes promise to give you a smooth, balanced ride even on Indian roads with their full EVA midsole, breathable mesh upper and plush collar. The memory-foam shoe cushion and high ankles ensures that your foot is well protected. The colours vary from regular to pop-pastels for those who wish to add drama to their morning runs.

Comfortable running shoes don’t always have to burn a hole in your pocket, and Skechers has been at the core of this revolution. The Skechers GOrun Pure series does it all with its seamless upper, breathable fit, flexible grooves on the forefoot and an ultra lightweight midsole. The latest version comes with a highly cushioned sole (aka the Hyper Burst foam) that adds about millimetre to the height of the shoe and offers greater comfort for long wear.
