A CHESTER-BASED children's charity is looking to ensure families stay warm this winter, amid a backdrop of soaring fuel costs.

KidsBank Chester, based on the former Loves of Chester Garage on Garden Lane, is committed to providing children with the necessary essentials to wrap up warm, easing the pressure on parents and guardians.

A list of the types of donations KidsBank Chester is seeking.

It comes as there are fears the cost of heating homes this winter will cost families potentially thousands of pounds.

KidsBank Chester founder Cathy Pettingale said: “The current financial crisis is causing many families to struggle with paying the bills, and it’s only going to get worse.

Blanket donations are being sought by KidsBank Chester.

"More and more families, particularly noticeable is the rise of ‘in work’ families, are going need our support over the coming winter and Christmas.

"Although we are a small charity we are committed to doing all we can to support local families across Chester and beyond. Our aim is to provide children with warm blankets, hot water bottles, pjs, dressing gowns and slippers – every little helps.”

KidsBank also supports families at Christmas with gifts for mum/dad and children.

KidsBank Chester is also seeking Christmas gifts for families in need.

Last year, 420 children received five gifts each. This year, as the financial crisis deepens, that figure could well be doubled.

KidsBank Chester has been growing rapidly since it started life in a small room generously donated by Northgate Church. It now has a larger space at the old Loves Garage site in Garden Lane.

If you wish to support KidsBank by donating new/as new items or if your school, business, church, club etc would like to organise a Christmas collection, please contact them on 07305 019699 or email info@kidsbankchester.com.
