Ebay has shared updates that are being implemented to the sneaker shopping experience on its e-commerce platform in October. Users were notified via email today about the changes, including additional silhouettes being added to its “Authenticity Guarantee” program, more efficient shipping, and a fee increase. (Full disclosure: Ebay is an advertiser with Complex and is a sponsor of the Complex Sneakers Podcast.)

One of the improvements coming to Ebay is the expansion of the sneakers that will be eligible for its “Authenticity Guarantee” authentication program, which is run by a dedicated team of authenticators that inspect the sneakers sold on the platform to ensure that shoppers are buying authentic products. Ebay also confirmed that the shipping logistics for both buyers and sellers are receiving an upgrade. Starting in October, the platform will cover the shipping costs for sellers sending Authenticity Guarantee-eligible sneakers, in addition to getting loss and damage protections if something does go wrong during the shipping process. This streamlined shipping protocol will now require sellers to send their sneakers within three business days or less, expediting the process so that buyers can receive their items within three days of authentication. Buyers will now pay a flat shipping fee of $14.95 in the US.

Ebay also revealed that a new 12.9% final value fee is coming to sneakers sold in the men’s or women’s Athletic Shoes categories costing between $100 and $150 starting on Oct. 10, but sneakers sold outside of that range won’t be affected.

Ebay remains one of the most popular destinations for buying and selling sneakers online thanks to its seller protection and authentication programs, as well as having some of the lowest fees  compared to its competitors.
